HRH’s Old Shipmates
TCA Patron , HRH the Prince of Wales kindly hosted a reception at his country home, Highgrove House on the 12th July for people who had served with him during his service in the Royal Navy, 1971-76.
The format was a tour of the extensive gardens, in which HRH participates in the design & maintenance, followed by the planting of a memorial tree & reception in the Orchard Room. Over 200 guests, of all ranks from Admirals to ABs, with wives & partners, were present with contingents from HM Ships Bronington, BRNC Dartmouth, Fox, Hermes (845 Naval Air Squadron), Jupiter, Minerva, Norfolk and the TCA.
Entertainment was provided by a quartet from the Royal Marines Band and by Rebecca Nelson, a noted singer, who in addition to her concert performances, also sings with the Band of the Royal New Zealand Navy as an RNZN Reservist.
The TCA Group comprised President Rear Admiral John Lippiett and his wife Jenny, Chairman Peter Harrison, Dennis Cook, Bob and Dee Dean, Peter and Doreen Down, Charlie Farnes and Janet Guy, Chris and Dulice Green, Laurie and Sue Johnson and Bill and Wendy Pollington. Other guests included a veritable flotilla of Admirals.
HRH was happy and relaxed. He enjoyed informal conversation with each group of guests. It was an honour and a pleasure to be there.
