Miscellaneous Ton Items
HMS Killiecrankie Item supplied by TCA member Alex Thomas
Many years ago when visiting the National Trust Scotland (NTS) visitor centre at the Gorge of Killiecrankie commemorating the battle of the same name when the Jacobite army defeated the Government troops in 1689 both the name boards of the reserve minesweeper HMS Killiecrankie adorned the reception area, returning years later both boards were missing and on enquiring about them I was told that they were probably in storage as was the NTS policy for layout change but the receptionist I spoke to was unsure of where they were or indeed what they were ever doing there in the first place, I did enlighten her on what the ship was and about the TCA. On my return last week while showing visitors around, back above the entrance is one of the name boards. nice to see at least one of them back in position. Alex Thomas.
