An excellent service, with at least fourteen survivors present, was conducted at All Saints Church, Fittleton Village in Wiltshire.
The narrative of the Fittleton Tragedy was excellently given by Colin Hurley who was an Ordinary Seaman at the time, very factual and quite moving.
The Naval Prayer was recited by TCA member Charles Wylie.
George Creasy, cox’n at the time of the tragedy, read the names of those lost.
Also present was the widow of RS Patrick Quantrill, Christine Quantrill and his two sisters Mrs Eileen Dye and Elizabeth Lutkin.
Pat Quantrill’s parents commissioned an inscribed glass goblet in his memory which had been presented to the church many years ago.

Cdr N.J. Hall RN, currently serving at Portsmouth Naval Base was present.
