Kent Area

Invicta

Kent Area is organised by Chris Green, TCA Kent Area Rep.

Early in December members from Kent and beyond joined together at the King Charles Hotel, Gillingham for a festive Christmas lunch.  A bottle of Pusser’s Rum was kindly donated to be raffled by the family of the late, local member, Colin Lambird and raised £56 in support of his charity the R.N.L.I.

The next springtime get-together will take place at Keppel’s in Folkestone on Thursday 30th March 2017.

The annual HMS WILDFIRE III Parade and Commemorative Service took place at Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey on Sunday 13th September. For the first time in the parade’s history it took place in the rain.
HMS Puncher was ‘in port’ and the Commanding Officer, Lt P J Seabrook along with some of his crew members joined with the RNR representatives from the former HMS Wildfire now Hawk Division(Northwood) to lead the parade, along with a joint Sea Cadet band from TS Kent and TS Wyvern.
There was a noticeable decline of those attending from all areas of representation.
David Creasy laid the wreath on behalf of the TCA, this included a tribute to those lost from HMS Fittleton in September 1976.

Area members descended to Folkestone recently for the annual springtime get-together and lunch. The venue was the same as last year, Kepples Bar and Bistro which is located within The Grand Hotel having views across The Channel to France.
Edward VII was a frequent visitor to the hotel (also Alice Kepple!).
The anticipated arrival of Peter and Sallie Palmer from ‘across the pond’ did not take place due to flight delays!
We were pleased to welcome back Roy (Bungy) Edwards and his wife Rose.
Following lunch some of the members visited the nearby Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-Le-Ferne, which now has new visitor centre (recently opened by HM The Queen). Other members adjoined to The Metropole.
During the course of lunch a joint toast was made to our late TCA Chaplain John and his wife Margaret.
